Third row wagon seats

Back in 2002 when I nearly bought a new Outback, I looked at getting a third row of seats fitted. I ended up with a 7 seater Patrol so didn't need them but I remember they were about 2 grand and were definately available and legal.
I am looking to buy a 2nd hand Liberty/Outback now to replace my L wagon as my "airport car" and need the extra seating. The seat fitting people that I rang today all told me that nothing is available for any Liberty and never was, only for the post-2002 Forester.

Anybody able to refute this?

Otherwise I'm looking at a Forester or worse......something else!

I think there was a problem due spare tyre in Liberty and Outback series... I could be wrong tho - but I recall that it didnt meet the requirements due the spare tyre issues?

A mate had them fitted to his Gen 3 Lib, just took it to a place that fits them and sized it up, apparently they have more space in the boot than the the same generation falcon or commodore so either of those seats fitted easily.

It was on a set of rails so when he needed more space just clicked the release and slid it out the back.

Lap seat belts were attached to the actual seat, not the car.

Thanks BaronVonChickenPants.
Do you know where your mate took his Lib? And when?
I would like to give them a call.
Tried 5 different places yesterday and they all told me the same story. They were all in QLD though, so maybe the laws are different.

I've got what you need!
I bought my gen3 with the 3rd row seats fitted to it,took them out as i don't need them
They fit over the spare wheel cover.
The top half of the seats folds on the bottom half and the whole thing is hinged so it can be flipped up to access the spare.
It has its own belt system .
I have the whole unit as removed with all brakets etc...
Its grey velour from memory and has the headrests too.
Made by a company in queensland
Will pm you my details
I am in WA
