Which is apparantly one year early. (link)

It's a pity it looks so... ugly. I suppose it's cute, if you like that sort of thing, but I honestly don't understand why they can't build an EV that looks like a regular subaru. An electric version of the Impreza or Liberty or something.

Or... they could bring back the SVX as an EV! It looks great, isn't too large, and is quite aerodynamic. Perfect!

then you can ditch the jerry can. I wanna build an electric go kart as my first electric car project one day - copy one i have already seen on telly in Oz.

So do you need to carry around spare batteries instead of a jerry can then?

I want to convert an early liberty sedan to electric, and use a generator in a small trailer to charge on the go for longer trips.

I'd also like to get an old brumby and convert it to electric, with the generator in the tray. That one would be my offroad toy, but the family car is first priority.

I very nearly built an electric MX5. Decided to wait for the price of Lithium Polymer batteries to come down a bit, I can think of better things to blow $10K on!!

Heh. There's a guy in Perth converting an MX5 now! He's going for lithiums, too. According to other who've used lead acid batteries, and then changed to lithiums, they work out to about the same price per Km, because you get more out of them per charge, and they last alot longer than lead acids.

But yeah, it'd be great once the price comes down.

Yeah, I forget the exact numbers, but 12Kwh of lead acid batteries weighs about 350kgs!!
