Know a welder in Brisbane?

Post by tommo » Mon Dec 03, 2007 6:27 pm

So, over the weekend I discovered a loose bolt in one of the lift blocks (L series - the one at the front with three blocks)
By the looks of it the thread just rusted out, the captive nut's still attached but next to no thread left in it.

As a temporary fix I've done as a recent thread suggested and lifted a section of floor up in the foot well, put a longer bolt through and a new nut on top of the captive nut, then tightened it by hand.

I want to knock the old captive nut out, weld in some plate, then weld a new nut on top.

My question is about the welding. I have limited experience with an arc welder but I don't own a mig or anything else. Is it worth having a go or should I just get a professional to do it?
Anyone know a good welder in Brisbane who doesn't mind doing small jobs?

Thanks,
Tommo.

definitely get it done properly, and by MIG..dont want to muck around when it comes to them plates as they have a habit of ripping away from the body.
