Adelaide and stolen subarus...what's going on!

Not sure what's going here at the moment. My EA82Ted L-series was stolen in April, police chase etc as well as being used for several home invasions along the way (as you do) before crashing into a stobie pole

This week another L was stolen (not mine), involved in ramraids x2 - amazingly followed a similar route as mine did eariler this year.

Just dropped by my panel beater to view the progress on my RS Liberty Wagon respray. He was broken into overnight, the litte darlings tried to drive it out but could not get past the workshop doors.

Need that guy the TV show 'numb3rs' to do one his grid matrix thingies

So instead they stole my 06 Alpine headunit (ipod charging function had failed anyways) and some of his tools...

Man that is harsh.. Will you and your panel beater get the money back via insurance?

fortunately he is a top bloke that I have known for years. Will be no problem sorting the $$$ side of things - more the aggrovation factor.

These crack heads need to be tought a lesson... 100K volts on your ignition key until a secret switch is flicked should do the trick.......

Man, of all the places in Australia you'd only expect it to happen once in Adelaide... Sounds like it could be the same guys that hit your car, following a bit of a pattern there...

Hope you get some better luck headed your way real soon.

Cheers

Bennie

that's it - i was thinking a lick of paint for my boot lid and bonnet to schmick up the auto RX but I will leave it looking shabby, remove the turbo decal off the door, leave the bob tail off and get around looking sheepish. Already had a young cop do a double take when i started her up at the servo the other night - sure he expected a REX and all he saw was 4WD TURBO on an L series sedan door as he heard the 2.5 inch zaust! I DON'T want to attract attention that you are getting Steve .

My 2.5 inch with x2 'dogs and a cat = 89.7 dB on the engineering check (with no other animals involved)

I am convinced it was my exhaust note that gave the game away in the old L - I don't live in the friendliest of neighbourhoods (esp after dark) and had planned to tone it down with a muffler. Aside from the lift, looked std, but in smick condition.

I thought it just looked like another japanese brick in the wall - for the retards that stole it, it was a freedom machine

RS is stock - hope it wasn't targetted as such and more of an opportunist crime whilst stealing the man's tools.

Take them fishing if you find them. Cheap bait

I've been planning on replacing my Bimmer's M5 badge with one from a 518. Nothing like staying disguised

The good ol' Sleeper sounds good, indeed, Steptoe.

Especially if you can outdrag something that is fullysick'd out. The looks on their faces... hehe

Excuse my ignorance, but what on earth is a stobie pole? :???:

Ahhh. Funny old South Oz has these strange and unique devices we use to suspend powerlines and other things above the road. Other states may know them as light or telegraph poles.
Basically they look like 2 pieces of railwayline (the steel not the wood) spaced apart with cement poured down the gap. Unlike wood poles which can be somewhat forgiving if reversed into in a carpark, the old stobie pole soesn't budge until you start bending the iron. See sven's avatar picture for a graphic demonstration of their lethality.
