I need to raise the height of my turbo and was thinking of extending the up-pipe just below the turbo flange.

Someone once told me that these turbo exhaust manifolds are stainless steel.

Is this true?

Or is it just treated mild steel exhaust pipe?

The factory pipes are made of Stainless steel but you could make an extension or a new one out of any material suitable

my zaust guy says it is a stainless steel but not the stainless steel we know when it comes to kitchen sinks and cutlery. He uses a 'standard' wire in his mig for this stainless and the other zaust pipes. An example of the kitchen two is enough to confuse - a magnet will stick to one of them but not the other !!

Apparently all pipe for unleaded is a stainless variety for the header /engine pipe at least.

its a mild steel mix if its magnetic 302 grade it dosent rust though

unless you weld it with mild steel wire or cut it with with a geinding wheel thats been used for any normal steel

So you are saying that i can join it with a piece of mild steel exhaust pipe and weld it with a normal mig welder?

My other option was to buy the up pipe section of a ej20t, as i its not a RHB5 that im putting back on.

Do i need to weld it with a gas mig, or is a flux cored mig sufficant?

What about wrx factory manifolds, are they stainless too?
