does anyone know if there is still a speedo check set up on the bruce highway north of brisbane, just wondering if my oddometer is miles out and would like to check it over 5 or more k's.
If its not there does anyone know where the main roads dept have set one up around brisbane?

You can probably rent a GPS from a camping store.
Try it at a range of speeds by the way. I don't know why it works the way it does, but one of my cars is out 6kph from 80 (86 on the speedo is really 80) all the way through to 200 on the speedo (194.1 on the GPS). Private road testing of course.

Grab an GPS from ebay.. would be worth getting, i use it all the time for work related - distance of kilometres etc and I travel speed camera/time zones and relies on GPS for speed.
My Liberty would be doing 107kmh where the speedcheck says 98 whereabouts GPS says I'm doing 101. SPeed check is estimation purposes.
Cheers

I've got four or five GPSs around here (a couple of chartplotters for boats and a couple of handhelds). I've tested the car with 2 x 12 channel GPSs on the dash - and believe me, they are exactly the same with the speed readout - down to the 1/10th kph

GPS is likely to be the most accurate reading you can get. And yes, car speedos vary in accuracy at different speeds. They are usually spot on closest in the range of 70-100km/h from experience and the further either side the larger the error, generally. ADRs require tolerance of +/-4% from memory. And the tyres can be another +/-4% out too! This is why that most radars / speed cameras are set at 10% above the posted limit.
