Hey Guys,

Im another forum newbi. Well for an introduction my name is Christian and untill recently the only car i owned was a nissan 180sx.

The thing that changed this was my recent accusation of a Subaru Fiori. I haven't driven it much but it seems like the perfect car for a daily. Needed something to make trips around when the 180 is off the road (often) and to get to train station in.

Little background on my subi, i know nothing about them. A friend practically gave me the car. Here is the catch the engine is tired and has big end style noises coming from the engine bay under the higher rpmz.

So id like to know everything there is to know about this car and engine. Particularly if its easy/cheap to get another one to swap. i hear the supercharged rex motor fits in there, that would be fun but im not looking to spend big $$ on this, i already have a car that eats money. id like to keep this one running and reliable.

so please, let me know everything there is to know about the furious fiori.

Hey

Thanks, i might give them a call.

Are you able to tell me for sure if it is a 'bolt in' job?

im a bit of a bush mecnic and have done an engine conversion for a s13 before but i have no idea with the subies.

also is there anywhere in perth you can get 'exchange' engines for these?

I thought the Flori was a larger updated version of the Sherpa with an east-west 3 cylinder engine? Does this sound correct unkn0wn?

Got any pics of the car/engine bay etc?

If the problem is just the bearings, i'd say you could probabily drop the sump off and swap them out from there as I'm sure these cars arn't horizontally opposed and *should* be accessable from the sump. But if the engine really is tired a rebuild by yourself would be the way to go - this way you know whats been done and will keep cost down.

I don't see how a rex engine would fit in this car, maybe i'm thinking of the wrong thing... Or maybe you mean that a supercharger can be fitted - that is a yes, i've hear of a sherpa with a supercharger bolted to it...

If you could post some pics it would be a great help.

Cheers

Bennie

The quick answer to 'i hear the supercharged rex motor fits in there?'

Yes it will.
No its not a 'bolt in' job. The original motor is carbed. The Rex supercharged motor is multi-Point fuel injection. So a EMS/ECU & wiring is required...
It not an easy task....

Didn't the fiori come as a 660cc supercharged version as well...
Is that wat you're talking about when you say supercharged rex or do you mean wrx?

The vivio came with a supercharged version of that motor so that part would be a bolt in but it would still require a largish wiring job and mounting an ECU somewhere.
