The hardest button to button

Post by Bumpty » Sun Sep 02, 2007 1:44 pm

What does the little orange button do?
It's in my 93 liberty wagon, auto, AWD.
It has manual written on it and doesn't really do a lot when it's switched on.

EDIT: Is it standard with these cars, or has a previous owner put it in?

when you have the button set to manual and you put your t bar shifter in a gear other than D it will stay in that gear at allmost any engine rev and wont change , without that button selected and then select a gear it will still change if the trans decides it is required.

Yep definitely standard it's listed in the user manual for my Gen1 Lib.
Although it does kindof look a little like a home mod - generic ****-Smith looking switch isnt it.

**edit....yes he does have a kindof offensive name doesn't he!

Its like a gear lock for automatic transmission, to reduce wheel spin.. Is it FWD (or FWD converted to AWD?)?
Cheers

umm as far as i know it's AWD, the car has on it "4WD constant" though
(which is weird considering it's meant to be AWD,
a mate told me Suby just changed the 4 to A in later years)

It may of been converted from FWD by a previous owner, how do i tell?

cheers for the prompt replies as well.

hey bumpty, all the decor on the panels *constand awd on rear doors*, and the *gx awd duco on the tailgate* is a fairly good indicator that its awd:D
Also re: the manual switch, there is a write up on it in the owners manual:) the button is stocko, theres a pic in the manual too:D

its a snow thing. makes taking off in the snow alot easier without wheelspin

stick in second > takes off in second and stays in second (until you hit high RPM)

stick in 3rd > takes off in second, shifts up to 3rd only (until you hit high RPM)

No effect in 1st or 4th
