RX wagon not sold - looks like I'll have to keep it then

Post by Willie » Fri Aug 31, 2007 9:22 pm

My RX wagon that is currently with Steve_Rising_Sun, that's been for sale for a while has not sold. Looks like I'll be hanging on to it far a while longer then! She's running better now and Steve has given a good prognosis. He's just putting in some new lifters, and she'll be good as gold.

Now I have to work out how to get it back to Darwin on the cheap.

Anyone coming this way that needs a car to drive up the middle?

FOR SALE: AUIII XR8. Can't afford to run, register and insure 3 cars, so one has to go. (The Forester stays!)

For the XR8?
Yeah - around the 21k mark (low kms, manual)

For the RX wagon?
See my thread in the For Sale section (nearly at the bottom of the first page now)

0413 245060 if you're interested (in either).

If the Forester that good? I've been thinking about buying the same model.

Rob, I am extremely curious as to what was found to be the cause of the problems in your RX's EA82T. It is good to see you NEED to keep the RX. You can buy any old XR Falcon in the future if you need as they sort of outnumber the old subes :)

The Foz is great!

As I said to my wife when comparing different cars before we purchased the Foz, we need to have a car that fits our lifestyle, rather than massage our lifestyle around a car.

We have two kids, with the youngest 2 yo. That means prams, portacots and plenty of other bits and pieces when we go away. Need the room for all this - a roof basket is employed often!

With Alpine Skiing (don't get too much of this up here in Darwin) and Mountain Biking as my two main recreational persuits, the car had to be able to have roof racks and ample internal space.

In the wet season up here, good grip is esential, especially when the car transports our two most valuable assets - Emma and Angus.

Apart from all that - this car can be my bit of fun on the weekends and my wife's run-around during the week. With the MY06 models and beyond, they got the full WRX drivetrain rather than a de-tuned version like previous models. It goes like s**t off a shovel, handles exceptionally well (MY06 on got firmer suspension than previous models) and is very comfortable to drive and ride in.

We have had no problems at all yet (32,000 kms), however tyres are not wearing well and will be replaced with something better than the OME Yokos they come with.

So, to answer your question PeeJay, yes the car is really that good - for us at least.

Cheers,
Willie.

Once I have the final report from Steve, I'll be happy to let you know. Should probably make a thread to give others an idea on things to look for.

You're right, the Falcons are pretty common and I must admit I don't have the same affection for this car as I have had for others over the years. Although this thing is great to drive! My favourite is still the MkII Cooper S Mini I restored many years ago. The RX sedan is probably #2. The couple of Kombi's I owned were not bad, either!

Cheers,
Willie.
