Post by 4xsama » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:52 pm

Hi All,

Any clues as to how big (or small) a package the below would be, and how much it would weigh for freighting.

EJ22 motor with ecu
GX gearbox manual AWD
Complete clutch kit to suit GX gearbox,
a Gbox Xmember,
engine mounts,
ECU
wiring loom for engine and underdash
modified tailshaft
CV's
Brakes
L series hubs and lower control arms
new tie rod ends to suit
A new radiator fan
a high pressure fuel pump
an EFI fuel filter
exhaust system

No. I was actually thinking of loading up a pallette but it sounds cheaper to get a (F***'n) front cut over here which is what I wanted to avoid.

With the possible exception of the entire exhaust system, All that should fit onto a pallet.
Standard pallet is 1200 x 1200 and being conservative (ie nasty suprises in extra cost) on the height, say 900 to 1000.

I've yet had a freight company to ask for the weight, always the height, and to make sure the oil has been drained. I assume they have standard units weights for different categories of freight.

All that should be avaliable at a competative price in WA, have you looked at buying a written off liberty from insurance actions, ebay etc? Might even be able to sell off some bits you don't use.

Seagull is in wa somewhere and seems to have had cheap parts for sale from time to time. Might even be able to get a front cut for you. It might pay to talk to him.

yea just keep an eye on ebay and the quokka, they do come up in there quite regularly and for cheap usually.

Cube weight will nearly always be higher on a pallet than actual weight, so best to just go on cubing for the freight company (a pallet with a 1m high box on it full of feathers costs the same as a pallet with 1m high pile of car parts to freight)

Cube it and find out the per kg freight charge.
