I went to have a look at a small caravan it was 900kg Gross. The salesman then checked the specs for subie towing.
50kg ball weight and 1050kg maximum legal L Series 1988 wagon.
Legally 10% of the gross weight of trailer should be carried on the ball !! That means with a 50kg ball weight the maximum I can tow is 500kg gross !! Even though the vehicle is rated 1050kg tow capacity.
Any Ideas on how to increase tow ball weight legally L Serie
That sounds about right. If you look in the engine bay at the compliance plate it will have a GVM of 1650kg. Gross Vehicle Mass.
This means the L series + whatever it is towing, inclusive.
The L series should way approximately 1100kg (can't remember the exact number for this). This leaves an approximate towing capacity of 550kg.
This is regardless of what type of towbar arrangement you have unfortunately.
