you know how if you go to your local engineering supplies place looking for nuts for the car like M8 1.25 that fit a 14mm spanner, socket etc you end up with a nut that needs a bloody 15mm socket and sometimes that is too bulky and ALWAYS inconvenient due to lack of 15mm tools. Is there a good place to get automotive spec nuts that anyone knows of ?
some stuff is on hand at exhaust shops but not a lot of variety
years ago I used to order off Swantons? in Melbourne for grade 8 stuff

In Canberra have you tried Specialty fasteners? They are in fyshwick and have always managed to find the bolts I need. They tend to know there stuff aswell.

Specialties...take a ticket and watch the telly. Gees , they are always busy....I might have to insist on the outer dimensions as well, usually get "sorry, that's what we have". Might have to put an order in

Try Dandy bolts, but they're a little out of Melbourne in Dandengong. Dad gets a lot of his bolts from here.

Look up Boltmaster in the yellow pages. They are not cheap but have everything i have ever needed in stock too. Good place for weird or specialised hand tools also. They appear to have a few shops around the place but mainly in QLD NSW and VIC, didn't see anything west.
