Lifted Liberty.. using Outback struts

G'day fellas,
Today lifted my Liberty by using new set of KYB struts (bought on ebay a few wks ago, under name of Gabriel's (its packed by Gabriels but they are KYB struts as I checked the part nbrs etc & has stamped KYB on them, no where it has Gabriel's stamped at all) anyway installed them with minimal of hiccups - Rear was easy (lot easier than Sedan!) and front was okay-ish) just that spring compressor wasn't close enough, Will give measurements tomorrow,

Struts are from Outback
Springs are from standard Liberty's.

One question I have is - Do I still require Outback trailing arms? My Liberty is Oct 1996. Will send photos of measurements of before & after tomorrow evening.

Next thing will get bigger 15" tyres (maybe 205/75 15") or go for 16" (215/70)? Not sure yet, I don't need new tyres yet

The Outback drop trailing arm bracket you speak of is really not that much of a problem with the Gen 2 as the arches are big enough for pretty much any rim tyre combo. To lift it i recomend you instal the kings or Pedders springs all round standard Liberty springs on Outback srtuts seem to make the arse drag a bit.

I agree. grab some standard height king springs KFFS-25, KSRS-25 or go raised if you prefer. your original springs will be tired..

see how your rear wheel is closer to the front of the wheel arch now? If you want to move it back about 8mm.. get the outback trailing arm brackets. it will depend how big you o on tyres, you probably wont need them

These Outback trailing arm brackets are sounding hard to come by, are they something that could be reproduced easily?*
Anyone have photo's?

they are NOT hard to get! i bought a set new from subaru last week.

they are hardto get cheap / free though ;)

the same thing is achieved by fitting an extra inch lift under your trailing arm mounts. The real brackets are far less dodgy and more legal though

Yeah I agree about the coils issue here, I am still thinking about adding raised coils on, but before I do go ahead I need to discuss with insurance first(!) From what i read somewhere (can't remember where) it'll shorten life of rear CVs joints is that correct?

If I do raise the rears, Should I lower the rear diff cradle?
Cheers

Dont know where you got your info from but i have not had any issue with rear CVs wearing out with the lift of the Outback raised springs.

by all means discuss with your insurance mob, but they wont have any issues with 25mm raised coils. your insurance cert. will just say "raised suspension"

your rear end will have NO issues with CV's. just fit the springs - leave everything else alone.

your front end *might* but as dave said nobody seems to be having too much trouble.

I don't know what the trailing arm brackets are worth as i havn't paid my account yet. When i do i will post the price here
