The dash gets a freakin annoying rattle in it, both my Lib and the Outback have the exact same rattle and it drives me nuts!!!

Have you considered getting the 99 model and swapping an EJ25T into it? BYB01 or some of the WA boys might be able to help price out the cost to do this sort of conversion.

An EJ25T RX Liberty would be a sweet machine to own. ;)

250,000 k's is a lot.
Budget on
Engine/transmission
Diff
Suspension
all bushes

If that can be replaced with 80,000km equivalent for 6k then nothing in it, except a dash number come resale time. Oh yeah, not much more will come off the $8k over the next few years, whereas the 14k one will come back to 8k over that time.

I'd go the cheap one, then if it's fine then you have a bargain, if you have to replace stuff then you aren't any worse off than if you'd spent up.

Assuming both cars are bodily and interiorly the same condition.

thanks guys, some very very good points there..i spose another pro to the high kilometer car is that it may have had abit of work done..my problem is that with a nice cheap car i will be very tempted to spend the 6grand i have saved on mods...ie, lower, nice big rims(liberty sti ones) etc etc..

Good words them :)

First I thought when you said 8k, 250,000km & "pristine" in the same sentence I thought it was almost an oxymoron, but when I tink about it I have seen a quite a few in very good nick bodily, interiorly and mechanically with that many km on them. And some with a lot less that are ****ters.

Dear Alex,

I am very curious, WHY are you now so keen to upgrade to a Gen III Lib litterally weeks after going to that effort and trouble to putting an EJ22 in your 'L'....???

Does your now 2.2L 'L' not perform as well as you had hoped or something...??

Regards,

Kaz :)

1. The EJ22 is absolutely sweet as, and i have got absolutely nothing to complain about. Just abit of structural damage to the poor poor l-series..

2. I want something new, and even more sexy than my L...something that will semi-handle on road..

Gen III's are like proverbial **** to a blanket. Get a whiteline lift and castor kit and get it aligned properly and you'll love it.

I remember once when michelle got the lib sideways, hit a bump mid corner at pace and it stepped out on her, dunno where she learned it (probably late night forest sojourns in the RX) but she steered into it and caught it, I cheered :P

...Please excuse my ignorance but which model/year is the Gen III Liberty...?

Anyone got any pics...?
What YEAR is that Gen III.....?
IT does indeed sound decent, from what you guys are saying....

IS there NO WAY you can make an 'L' handle half as good as a Gen III...???????

Kaz

simply??...no...

you could but would cost soo much money and time it would hardly be worth the effort. being a lifted car with a much higher centre of gravity, the car would just simply not be able to corner and handle as well. my RS suspension felt completely diffrent once the lift kit went in

This is a Gen III

They are very sweet.

My Boss has a Gen IV GT sedan, it is 10 times the car :P

You'll be able to get an L series to handle as well as a Gen III, as ultimately anything can be made to 'handle' (look at the truck racing, they'll outhandle anything factory subaru) just how much money do you want to spend?

this is 95% my car :D

just need finance to get approved and its all mine!!

Its a, Gen3 my01, special edition gx, full leather, pretty much all the candy of a rx(plus more) and just a bog hole Ej20, which i will be upgrading one day! 80,000km, 17inch lenso rims..

this to come are low king springs(im lowering a car! WTF!), some kind of body kit, exhaust, and thats about it!
