maybe if it were a different colour...and lift

I'd love to put a worked EZ30 in it, and of course big tyres and a lift.

Loosing all the weight from the arse end would make it a seriously fun vehicle.

Well then let me be the first one to knock it . . . it's great that he's done it and it looks like he's done a pretty good job, but it just looks aweful.

Personally, I feel Subaru should take a leaf out of Proton's book. Using the original LX Impreza dies, EJ18 engine and hi/lo gearbox, create a no-frills Brumby that just works and is reliable. Exactly what the first one was!

Anywho, personally I'd prefer the larger cargo area the liberty chasis would offer, I don't mind it being a basic, no frills affair, and with the reduced weight the EJ18 would handle it no worries, they came standard in some very early liberties anyway (just not in aus).

And of course it would have to have a real low range cog, not the pathetic excuse that the EJ's are used to.

I agree with Mudrat. To me a Proton Jumbuck like ute is what the brumby should have become when it grew up.

I have sent he bloke an email asking if he can give me more info and pics if possible.

I agree that Subaru should bring out a decent ute again. They can leave the Baja in the US where it belongs and simply build a new one. I am of the opinion that one based on a Liberty would be more to my liking although I would seriously consider buying one based on an Impreza.

Frills or no frills wouldn't matter. I would suggest running gear from a Forester though. 2.0 or 2.5 with good low range box or auto. Wouldn't need a turbo model but hell they would be fun.

I have just started building a new ute for work but sadly it is a Brumby. It is going to have a 2.5 and AWD though. That will compensate for the lack of room in the cabin.

I'll have to knock it too, esp from the rear, its ugly. Those wheel arches aren't too practical. This things got nothin over say the ford/olden utes.....
Yep time for Subaru to do one, because a conversion like this doesn't appeal I reackon, needs to be a good design, and the Baja isn't it either .

Anyone seen this?

Phininza did a photochop of a blue wrx to make a ute, it was awesome

My girlfriends little brother (15yo) found a picture on boostcruising.com of a impreza in which a guy modified into a ute. That is pretty impessive

Now that Forrester ute looks awesome..... straight to the production line I say!
