L gearbox ?? front clutch bearing slide

Post by steptoe » Sun May 06, 2007 9:37 am

inside bellhousing of 5 spd 4WD box, the input shaft clutch bearing slide sleeve nose whatever that is held in by three bolts..how do you remove this bit ?? is there a bearing and seal in there ? is the sleeve a tight fit over the bearing ??

i have attempted to remove to clean dirt out of the splines as last owner kept it outside his shed on the ground, rainfall and mud has splashed up in there and i wanna protect internal componenets as much as possible from premature wear

thanks,

I'm pretty sure you have to slightly split the case to pull the bearing and shaft out on the front. Which if you have to slightly split the case, your probably going to have to pull it right apart to get it to seal right again..

Yeah you have to split the case. you also will then have to remove the selector rod and extension housing
