Hey all. Just got my weber carby . its got a water choke on it. Now I understand the concept behind the water operated choke, I just need to know where the water stems from. Where do the hoses hook up from? From the Radiator? dunno. Help!

Been thinking about it a bit, think I probably have figured it out. F^&k it, I'm going to have a bash.

you could tap it into your heater hoses, only trick might be working out if there's a "hot in", "cold out" side to the choke... I had one on my old lancer, it seemed to work alright (also had a secondary jet oberated by vacuum butterfly, would not want another one of these, i'd go the mechanical one anyday.)

Yeah just had a look nder the bonnet. Very frustrating casue I just don't know enough to do this all my self. Just don't know which hoses go t where or hook up where on the carb. Pretty sure I've sussed oout the choke system. just need about 1000 years more experience under the hood..... *Pounds the wall in frustration* *Vituperative flow of vitriolic Vexations* FFFFFFFFFFF&*^()*(*&*(*&^&^&*^(*&k!!!

there isn't 1000 years of "under bonnet" experience... its only been around for just over a century or so...

Jokes aside, ease up, take your time, there is much to be learnt and you've come to the right place to do it. It will get frustrating, i'll tell you that, i've been there and i'm sure i'll be there again sometime...

Anyway, hope you get it sorted, i'm running an MPFI (multi port fuel injected) engine now so i'm not sure about water hoses around the carbie inlet manifold, but i know on the MPFI there's a water hose that comes up to the throttle body (below where the carbie bolts to the inlet manifold - equilivant area) and then goes back to the block or heater. You could bypass one side of this through the choke then back to it original destination. I don't know what this will do in terms of heat loss to the inlet manifold or your choke, but i don't think it would be anything to worry about. It would probabily be the easiest way to do it, all you'd need is a lenght of the correct diametre hose and you'd be set.

or one of those t pieces that are 16mm straight through and 8mm? T.

I can tell you if it is EA81 the metal pipe that comes out the back of inlet manifold thermostat end and runs along motor to the other end to heater - this is hot water pumping OUT of block to heater. if you can get right T piece this hose would be easy access and return the water to another hose on the other side of the heater tap . Those little 8mm water hoses under carby would be less parts but harder to access - but if carby is off ??
