Just when I thought there wasn't much more i could stick on the hatch, Vidler knocked me up this on the weekend... im VERY happy with it. Thanks again Vidler.

Pics are below... and Yes it does turn into a table.

It is removable, hinges down to form a table base for camping, and the boot can also be opened without having to hinge it down.

Vidler made it extreamily strong and at one point we were testing it by him standing on it.

Just need to find a place for my number plate.

I do usually carry it on long trips and for offroading but it use up 80% of my boot space.

lol. we discussed how much we think its worth. we came up with $300 complete. I may not need any extra pocket money. change of jobs in the air. 90% likely be getting on a shutdown crew for skilled labour hire. just jumping from mine to mine doing all the repairs... big $$$ and i choose when i work. thats likely to happen within 2 weeks

Hi
was the holder made from a hinged bike carrier?
As I've always wondered about modifying one, and using the towball as the mount for. Most have a 40kg capacity so should be able to cope with a spare wheel attached to it.
Either way, nice bit of kit.

Yeah it is made out of one of them bike carriers but it is one designed to carry 3 - 4 bikes at once and also made rather hardcore. I think this one can handle much more than 40kg but i agree most bike rack designs would not have worked too well.

We could dummy bolt it to your sedan some time when we are board.

I agree that if i had a wagon i would have definately gone that way... was not really an option for the hatch though. I spent a long time working out what i wanted... and because of the rear lights the wheel had to sit center and not to one side like you can with a wagon... this would mean the swinging arm would have turned out rather long and heavy.

Another big reason i went with this idea was i was surprised to find that i don't even need to fold the wheel carrier down to access the boot... so folding it down will not be a common occurance... only will be folding it down when camping and using it as a table for cooking etc.

ah yes the light i forgot bout them, you could fit extra lights to the carrier but yea more trouble than its worth
