Hi all
I am planning a lift on a gen1 liberty wgn,
I've got a 2in lift kit and gen2 outback struts.
I want to know what springs to use,
std or raised?
I will be running 27in tyres.
The cars rear end is sagging at the moment with std suspension.
Cheers
Chris

Lifted outback springs, but apparently the rear end sits lower than the front, so maybe lifted rear and standard front.

We all go lifted springs around here but you don't need to for 27 inch tyres.

Standard height Outback struts will lift your car 33mm. Lifted springs will lift it another 25mm. Fit this with a 3" kit and you have gained about 5 1/2" of lift. More lift is gained when you take in to account your new taller tyres.

if you want good mileage out of your front driveshafts - standard height springs

if you want more lift - raised springs.

As said you dont need the extra lift for only 27" tyres, they fit without a lift kit ;)

Scorpion never thought so. Look at the kits they were doing before they closed recently. 2" strut lift with nothing else.

i think brett meant subaextreme.

they were doing a 40mm strut lift. Alot of R&D went into this number, it wasnt a wild guess. I consider about 40mm the limit of having zero issues with your driveshafts.

outback front struts with standard height kings is going to be about 40mm more angle on your driveshafts.

outback struts + raised springs your looking at about 70mm more anglke on your shafts. You cant compare this to subaextremes 40mm strut lift

my car: about 3" front and 4 1/2" rear. 27.5" tyres. I have a 2" body lift so my front driveshafts have about 30mm more angle on them than stock. I have no issues with driveshafts

I did mean Subaxtreme. Very tired when I wrote it. I apologise to Scorpion.

Outback struts = 33mm lift
Lift springs = 25mm lift

I use this combination with a lift kit and am not having any trouble with CV's any more. I was having trouble when I first did it and have since learnt not to stuff around with second hand or inferior cv joints.

Are you using brand new shafts as replacements or dodgy used ones?

Brett is right about not using used or cheap shafts, good quality ones arent expensive and are well worth the money compared to pulling the front end of your car apart every 3 months

you shouldnt be going through shafts at all with that lift.

tell me about it....i spat the origional...my own fault......then i grabbed 2 second hand ones (genuine out of a front cut) with less the 70,000kms on it...again...those went...so now i have 2 brand new ones going in this week...we shall see how they go
