EA82 water pump differences found !!

there's been a bit of discussion re water pump differences between EA82 n/a and turbo. some have said turbo pumps differ to carby pumps. spare parts listings state deck height differences . Measure deck height between the face against the block and the outer face of pulley flange.

105mm & 110mm. I ordered a 105mm for my GLTA (turbo listed as 105mm) and find pump that came off EA82T almost originally in it was 110mm. SHOOT!

others have said they've bought normal available pump and fitted just fine to turbo motor.

Looking at pumps off n/a, turbo and Vortex turbo I think I gonna have the final word.

to run flat ribbed drive belts USE 105mm deck height
to run V belts USE 110mm deck height

so i spose vortex pumps are different to L series ?

problem should be solved with the hydraulic press

this issue comes up all the time, just reposition the pulley on the shaft using a puller or press. Thats what the mechanics do. Its the same pump

YEP. same pump body and spindle, just different position up spindle for flange.

I was simply pointing out I have found the difference is between V belt and ribbed belt NOT between turbo and carby models as has been my understanding of suggestions made here before.

Glad I kept my notes somewhere for recall out there in cyberspace. Who would have known, 4 1/2 years later I'd be neding to confirm my mental notes :D

You'd think they'djust supply the lower height one with a spacer disc and four longer bolts/studs wouldn't you ?

This way would give the ultimate flexibility and allow in situ change overs if anyone wanted to go the ribbed belt drive .

The minority get to pay more for unit to be stopped prior to packaging and pressed in another 5mm !! Usually an order in item, with the 110mm deck height in stock somewhere.
