er,well,fire under the bonnet,
it was behaving gutless all of a sudden so pulled off to a side street,100m on and noticed flames from under the bonnet, fire brigade got there maybe 4minutes later (the station is just up the street apparently).
I rang the subaru wreckers at padstow if they were interested to take it away, I suppose they are cuz i'v basically walked away from it, and said its got some worth in it like the stainless exhaust, downpipe ect, turbo, etc,
duh forgot about the rear discs, i suppose i couldve removed them...
got a few things off it, like the new fuel pump, and some other bits.
Its in English St, Kogorah, wreckers may collect it tomorrow.
oh, strange fortunate....this morning i removed the 14"/cooper tires to paint them.....so i still got them...
depending on what my options are gonna be, i'll probably be selling them and all the ea82t stuff i got, - got a unfinished to rebuild ea82t in the garage.

Man that blows, i know just how hard it is to loose a subaru to an unworthy end such as a fire.

Ah well, the way it was going I wouldn't have got rid of it voluntarily....
it never cost me a great deal to keep minus the usual rego costs which all cars incur....
so decision made for me,
annoying rust spots, and lately the left side did a bit of groaning under brakes - body flex - lots of weld fixes, stress from the lift kit etc etc etc.....
- i'm sure the engine can be revived by someone....it was a beautifully purring engine for a ea82t, and no lifter tick, BVCP can attest to that.....
- also now i'm not forever young:rolleyes:

Sorry to see the loss of your EA82T Wagon.
Hope you pick up something nice on the rebound.

What a pity. Was it the fuel injector tail that split to cause the fire? Bad loss for you but good warning for any one running an EA82 MPFI engine. It is a common problem with them that when the injector tails get old they perish and then finally split and cause fires like this.
Subamans car did it as did RXTurbo's car.
Why not rebuild it Fredsub? Stinky work to get it cleaned up.

Thanks for your comments guys.....
BYB01, now that you mention it, thats could very well be what happened,
would have been the LHS, pretty sure thats where the fire started,
and yea, the injector tails, that solid hard rubber, i can see now that it can fail/deteriorate over the years, and its something i never closely inspected.
I did do some re-wiring for aux lights the previous day, so had been doing some soul searching of what I might have done- cause i thought i did a beauty job of it, relocated all the relays to inside the fender, all connectors with plastic covers, all thru separate fuses in a fuse box, taped insulation on parts where there could be probable contacts, tie downs to stop wire movement etc etc...
so byb01, thanks again for that comment,whew....
as for rebuild...NAH....been with the vehicle too long..RUST...and to get the parts back home...um 50km?....no, time for a bit of an upgrade, not as if i'm short of a qid, was planning to sometime in the next few years to maybe a big 4wd, but right now maybe not.....so have been lookin at all the online places now...maybe an outback..hmmm abs brakes...now thats something i want to play with...
tho not worth getting a too new vehicle, for where I live, I can hear the surf when its up:)......but the air has this corrosive effect...and i don't garage the vehicle.
