Dead EA81 Donk
Dead EA81 Donk
My now ex motor mechanic has blown up my EA81 motor sounds like a gudgeon or bigend so my '83 station wagon (mint cond) needs a new power plant. What choices do I have other than the EA81 don't really want to go to too much modification.

If your going to go to the trouble of an ea82T swap id go with the ej. a little more work but better outcome imo. anyway why, if your mechanic blew up the motor is he not fixing it? or at least paying for it? or is he?
Long live the 1990 Subaru Brumby 2" lifted and soon to be mig locked

few self-respecting ricers would spend the time to modify a Daewoo.

No it will not. Crossmember mods, some chassis rail reshaping, a ball of wiring to sort out, EFI fuel system (new pump, return line), custom radiator & heater hoses - I could go on all day.Phizinza wrote:If you don't mind the wiring, a EA82t will bolt right in, to a degree.
An EA82 carby motor is a possible fit, but at the end of the day it offers no real advantage over the EA81. And there's no wiring to do really, apart from putting the EA81 engine harness on the EA82 (4 wires).
My recommendation would be to find another EA81. Whereabouts are you located, Slatz?

I was told you use the EA82t crossmember, is this wrong? I also know of a couple of people who have put EA82's in Brumby's, they didn't need to touch the chassis rails, is this for the turbo model only? Fuel pump is easy, hoses are easy.tim_81coupe wrote:No it will not. I agree getting a adapter kit and fitting the EJ is a better idea then the 82t, but it is harder to sneak it past checks or get it legalised.
I guess you should just stick to the EA81 then. Maybe get a duel carb version, they go pretty good.don't really want to go to too much modification

Yes, an EA82T crossmember is an L series crossmember, not an MY one.Phizinza wrote:I was told you use the EA82t crossmember, is this wrong?
The motor sits above them? Hows the clearance near the dizzy?Phizinza wrote:I also know of a couple of people who have put EA82's in Brumby's, they didn't need to touch the chassis rails, is this for the turbo model only?
Return line all the way back and into tank is not easy, surge tank is not easy. Cooling pipes while easy to fit are harder to match and find.Phizinza wrote:Fuel pump is easy, hoses are easy.
EA81 all the way Slatz.
