4wding around Brissy

Hey people,
I'm wondering if there's any places fairly close to Brisbane where you can legally go and do some 4wding. The only places I've ever really been off road is on the beach and some national parks down in northern nsw.
My brumby's not lifted or anything, so i guess that cuts out some options.
Just lookin for a bit of fun on the weekends.
cheers,
Tommo.

There is some.. ahem.. "Crown Land" down near Springfield thats good for it. The entrance is just after the bridge on the Augusta Parkway coming from Bellbird Park.

You should be able to have enough fun with an unlifted car there (becareful though!) It's damn slippery if its been raining.

Otherwise Mt Mee SF is good for it too - need a permit to be legit though.

If you get lucky you might even find a carelessly discarded digital camera there...

Grab a copy of the 'Dirty Weekends' book from any bookstore, has a bunch of great tracks listed. Condomine Gorge is one that springs to mind for a stock brumby.

There's also any number of national parks that are stocko friendly. Best done with a second vehicle though, just in case :)

You can jam it too, Yarney :D

Just to fill you in Tommo - I managed to lose / get stolen an expensive camera at that Springfield area.

Tommo get a lift kit you won't regret it.

You will find it tough going at springfield with no lift take another 4x4 with you look at 92brumby post the pics were taken there.

Springfield?

Nah, mate ..... it's no good ..... stay away from there ..... not worth your time ..... It's not very exciting ..... rather boring if you ask me ...... waste of fuel to drive there ..... I hear there's better tracks on the Northside ...... there's also some nice tracks down the Gold Coast ..... you'd be better off going to other places rather than Springfield ..... Yarney thinks his driveway's a hard core 4wd track ..... don't listen to him ..... I think he's starting to get dementia ..... ;)

Well, for anyone who might know how little cabinetmaking apprentices get paid, that's the only reason I don't have a lift kit yet. I'm working on it trust me. Thanks for the info though fellas, I think I'll go have a look at springfield tomorrow seeing as how I'm out at ipswich for the weekend anyway. Anyone heading out by any chance??
