Bugeye GFB recirculation valve

Post by pl8e » Sun Mar 12, 2023 3:01 pm

Hi guys and girls

I've just installed a GFB recirculation valve on my bugeye WRX and I'm a little nervous about the clearance between the recirculation valve and the manifold. There appears to only be a couple of millimetre or two clearance. Is this normal or should I be worried about the heat affecting the recirculation valve? I would post a picture of it but I can't work out how to add it here 🤣

Thanks for the advice advance.

G’day Pl8e,

If the recirculating valve/return BOV is hard mounted I wouldn’t worry about the mm or so gap between it and the intake manifold. If it’s soft mounted - in the middle of a flexible hose - I’d be adding some brackets to hold it in place and try to add some space between it and the manifold.

The heat the intake manifold is subjected to will be the same as what the BOV is designed to handle.

If you’re talking about an external wastegate arrangement, it will be fine as it too will be designed for that sort of heat punishment.

If you have any concerns, contact GFB to seek their advice if you haven’t already ;)

Cheers
