I'm looking for someone in the Sydney/Redfern area that can help out my cousin. She has an MY touring wagon EA81 with a blown head gasket. Would appreciate a referal or recommerndation for her as I'm from Melb and she's also from Melbourne and doesn't have any car contacts up there. It's possible that fitting a second hand engine might be the cheapest option for her so we may also be wanting to source one locally.
thanks

There's a self service wreckers in blacktown I think it is, west sydney somewhere, I was there a couple of years ago and they had about 1/2 dozen each of L series and MY, Smoov lives nearish to it, if you ask nicely he may even check it out for you, otherwise he may know of other wreckers that could have what you're after.

They usually have a supply of second hand tested engines in stock. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.
As for what's in the yard...good luck finding a motor half intact! They usually pull the motor out of them if they're any good, and sell them as S/H motors.
hope this helps somewhat.
cheers

Mate I have a EA81 from a brumby, clutch was stuffed in it though, and I am close to redfern. I sold my brumby to a guy that smashed his, he might put it in for her cheep, he is not too far away. Come to think of it, it would only take a few hours to swap an ea81. I will pm you my number
