Flood damage ECU

Post by Auskip17 » Sat Jan 30, 2021 9:48 am

My 09 impreza g3 gh7 rx manual was recently caught in flood water and is now in need of a replacement ecu. I have been sent quotes for a brand new one (way too expensive) and a second hand one almost half the price but still with reprogramming and install it's more than I am looking to spend. What would my options be? Could I just buy one from a wreckers myself and plug and play or will it need programming anyway? I have one key and no immobiliser. I need to get my car back running asap as it's my daily. Any advice would be appreciated.

Doesn't it have a factory immobiliser? I thought it would?

If your in northern Adelaide, hit up Alchin Locksmiths, they're the gods of automotive keys and immobiliers: They may be able to code a sencond hand ECU in, otherwise you need the ECU, immobilier box(es) and keys to suit, but then you're still messing around with key barrels etc.

Being an ‘09, you’re sure to have an immobiliser that’s coded to your ECU. I highly doubt that you don’t have one.
