A final farewell for my old MY

I was initially going to just strip it and cube it but Amy (she's just as evil as me, maybe more) reckons the old girl deserves a decent send off and gave me a much better idea.....

DEMOLITION DERBY!!!! :D

This is how it stood when I stopped driving it:Image

It's got a few bits missing since then but nothing essential for the derby.

So I'm looking for ideas for derby preperations, so far I have:
Weld a 4" x 4" steel beam (I just happen to have one lying around, doesn't everyone?) between the B pillars, weld mesh in place of the windscreen and windows, the usual stuff.

But I'm also looking for cosmetic ideas, the more evil the better, I'll be cutting a set of Y pipes at the join and putting them on opposite sides to give me side pipes, they'll have a spark plug installed in each one wired off a 2nd coil that can be switched off for safety, the carby always ran rich so it should be fun, but thats all I got so far.

Open to any and all ideas the crazier the better, but I don't want to be spending much considering it'll be demolished anyway.

Cheers,
Jordan.

do a BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG BIG wing on it. or a normal-size one with long-ass mounts that go from the rear bumper to just above the tailgate.

cut vents in the bonnet and bend the material around (for better airflow... naturally)

get some polycarbonate and make a big clear box on the roof. duct-tape a chair to the roof and dress up a newspaper/stocking dummy in pope attire, but with devil horns and a red tail. have him holding a trident and have a pentagram painted on the hood.

paint on the side: DEVILMOBILE

put cardboard discs on the tyres so only 2" of tire is showing. draw in some big rims and paint the cardboard chrome.

splatter blood all over the place. do this by: doing a burnout on top of a pan filled with red paint, hitting a cat, throwing a balloon filled with red paint/pigs blood at the bonnet and side panels, and/or throwing a can of paint at the windscreen prior to removal.

cardboard-ify a bodykit.

make your racing number "665" because you killed stan, the six hundred and sixty sixth minion of satan. hence the blood all over your car. you also killed his cat.

give it a complete exterior cage.

yeh i think kerazy is just that- crazy :p

go nuts with some spray paint- flame job, offensive words, subaru logos, bright colours etc
bonnet vents/scoop would be pretty cool
if ya can mount a tyre on the front and back to absorb some impact.

and remember to take video/pix!!!!

Seriously... i think a subi would last less than 10 seconds in a Demo derby... they brake too easy when there not getting rammed.

Really need to protect them wheels... one side knock from a car and u will shear the ball joint and bend the radius rod and control arms.

Check out the usmb. One bloke did really well in a derby in his L series. I think it was severed wiring that stopped him. Had plenty of tips on how to make a subi go the distance

good luck searching

I watch porn and throw faeces at strangers who wear black shirts.

Nah... I guess I did think about that way too much. I might sell my subi out of protection now... or else I'm going to do a devilmobile :D:D:D

*sigh*, if only I were joking just now.

bugger the suspension, just weld a beam (or two) across to both control arms - just thought of it!lol.

luv the idea, it would be a heroic send off, must tell us when and where...and good luck.

if you need steel bar/rod etc, theres a local salvage/scrap yard i frequent, could look out for some, whatever you need.....

So far everything is pretty much going to plan, the big event is this coming Sunday 18th March at the Moss Vale Show, Moss Vale Showground.

For those that can't make it there will be plenty of before and after pics and a video of the event.

Entry for the event is $72 including a $50 bond which is given back if you remove the car yourself or kept if you leave it there.

hey hey, sounds like fun. It defenetly needs a BYB or ausubaru.com sticker... that'll keep the car going through the tough times... ;)

I'd love to be there to see the battle. Who's driving, you or Amy?

Cheers

I missed the event Image car just wasn't ready in time, theres another derby in nowra in about a month, aiming for that now but don't know if it's going to be feasable, going to cost me about $250 in entry and transport costs which is going to be hard after blowing over $100 just to miss the last one not including costs to prepare the car.

The car has about half a days work left to be ready, it's looking and sounding great, just a few little things left, as I'm sure you can imagine, I was really REALLY devestated when I realised I wasn't going to make it an hour before entry cut off after hiring a car trailer just to see it sit in my driveway for 4 hours, not to mention many long days and late nights spent under the car in Robertsons not so tropical weather.

Sorry to anyone that came out of their way to not see me, I'll keep you posted for the next one, shouldn't have as much trouble preparing for it just a matter of affording it, damn me and my expensive hobbies Image
