im how would one tell if their strut tops are cracking? when i break or am under acceleration something on the left hand side of the car makes a shrewd noise... so would this prehaps explain it.... i thought it might have been transmission mounts...

the strut isnt actually out of the car... still in the process of getting the control arm down enough to get the base of the whole strut out.

try un-doing the sway bar...also you will have to stomp on the hub, get someone to stand on it and you should be able to slide the strut out of the hub..if you have un-done the nut ontop of the strut be very very careful with the spring, as it will be loose and WILL go flying, and it could SERIOUSLY hurt some one...
