Insurance again

I just rang Shannons to try and get them to insure my car, not interrested.
Then I got a quote from Justcar - $1300 comprehensive + $1100 excess.
Are there any companies out there that will insure modified cars for a reasonable cost? I might just go 3rd party if it's that expensive.
I've been driving it uninsured for 12 months, but if I hit something it could be quite expensive

This is a *shock horror* "modified" "turbo" after all. Now I'm 25 I thought things would get better! I've even got full no claim bonus. Might have to ring gio and suncorp.

Insurance companies are just money hungry sons of bi*#hes
they dont care about shit but whats in the pocket
i was with elders and when my ute got stolen they didnt even talk to me for like a month or two after i lodged the form.
My new ute is suncorpe insured an as of yes i have had no problems
my cousin has all 3 of his commadores insured with them. his dad has all 11 of his vehicles including his genuine XB GT Falcon he has been with then for as long as i can remember with no probles so id recomend them seem to be priced well also...end rant

It get's better when your 25, but not that much better, and now the target age for settling the premium down seems to be about 30.
Unfortunately they've decided the statistics show that it's not just young people that are having the accidents, it's our generation....we're getting older, but still having more accidents!!
No seriously that's what the stats are showing, and the premium-age link is showing that. Some cars they won't even insure unless your 30+ (VY HSV an example - I think that was 33)

like wtf, they advertise themselves as the enthusiast's car insurance!!
just go third party property, and bank the difference, in a couple of years you could replace it no worries, its not like the vehicle is worth >$50k is it?
besides that, comprehensive insurance devalues the amount of insurance yearly, but the premium still goes up!! so you don't get replacement value, unless you insure that too for more cost.
try QBE, aami? i got a strong feelin they arean't interested in anything but stock, anything modded won't get insurance from them.

If I have saved $500 per year for every year I haven't had comprehensive insurance I'd have $3500 by now.

Yeah but what about if something happens - I used to think like you guys, then wrote my car off and since I'd insured it for 2k less than I paid for it, then took a 2k excess I'm left holding 4k of debt for a car I don't own....
I never thought anything would happen to me either once....

I guess my point was that even if I do write it off, I've the amount I have saved has already paid for the car so from now on I'm in front. I haven't made a claim in 7 years so if I keep that up I'm doing well. + car is debt free.

Yeah makes sense, when I had the Leone's it probabaly worked out the same just having third party on them.
If there's no debt it's a good option.
