Ej and L short shifter

Post by cameron » Sun Oct 08, 2006 9:43 pm

Going to make some 304 stainless short shifters for a L and a EJ box. Was wondering if it was worth making some more? Is there interest out there for this kind of product? Will have to do the figures yet but $50 ~ $80 is what I think they will cost and length and throw can be specified by the customer. I actually went the other way and put long throw shortened shifter into my Brumby, and I love it.
If it can't be cut, welded or re-machined, you probably don't need it.

The whole reason I am doing this is because I am fitting L and EJ boxes to brumbys and coupes. I had to modify the hell out of mine to make it work how I like. I saw the need to make my own shifters to save time and effort, but if I make the tooling for one, I can keep making them.

Yea sounds good. i could do with one in my brumby. because of the lift the lever sits foward of where it's suppost to and will hit badly on my audio unit when fitted could you make one to correct this problem and in corprate a short shifter?
Its going to have a 5sp d/r L series box.

Hey Cameron I'll probably take one for the brumby, and maybe the sedan as well .. both have 5spd L series dual range boxes. Let me know when and where.
'91 brumby, EJ-Turbo with VOSChip, 2" lift, 15" superlites, Dual Range AWD.

'93 Subaru Legacy, 2.2 auto, automatic seatbelts, LHD.

Well, with this sort of reply I will get it up and running. What I will do is turn up a set of blanks and all you will have to do is supply the length and throw required to suit your purposes. I will list a new heading under the 'for sale' when I have this done.

Any suggestions? I am unsure how much shorter I would want the throw to be. About half as much as standard? don't know if this will be very (to) short or not make much difference:???:

I actually like longer throw. You tell me what hight from standard you want your shifter and the amount of throw you would like. The shorter you go, the stiffer the feel gets and it's harder to 'find' gears. I will have a full explanation on the 'for sale' page.
