Wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for a 1995 Subaru Legacy 2.2 (NZ-new)? My flatmate has purchased it to re-power his new jetboat with (is running a carbed EJ18 at the moment and it's a little gutless). The aim is to switch to an MPFI EJ22. Both motors are phase 1 SOHC EJ motors so is bolt-in.

The problem is the wiring - the Legacy is obviously the newer post-94 shape and as such has a different ECU and wiring to the earlier shape Legacies (favoured for L series EJ swaps).

Between the two of us we've figured out most of the wiring (have already got the engine and harness out) but are unable to ID some of the critical wires eg fuel pump and starter. Unfortunately we didn't think to trace & label before pulling the engine & loom...

I've dug through the old tech manual threads with no luck.

So does anyone have a wiring diagram for this bastard of a car? The VIN is JF1BG7KJ4SG009993 if that helps. Cheers.

Would the 1995 US BD-BG-BK Legacy be the same or similar?
I can point you to one of their Factory Service Manuals if you think it might be of help.

Sounds like you’ve got a Gen2 there. Airbox got the MAF at a 45 degree angle or a 90 degree angle from the airbox?

90 degree = Gen1, engine plugs will be on the LHS of engine
45 degree = Gen2, engine plugs near bell housing at the back of the engine.

Using a google search shouldn’t be too hard to find what you’re looking for.

Those wires you’re looking for, they shouldn’t be hard to find. Fuel pump wire will come from the relay beside the brown power relay. The starter wire is a black wire and will have a black plug that is used to clip onto the trigger pin on the starter solenoid - it’s basically the same plug across all models.

Cheers
