i was having a surf on the net tonight and came across this...

the new subaru tribeca, a SUV

http://www.tribeca.subaru.com.au/

opinions/thoughts?

personally i like it, they look very prestigious, and remind me abit of the porshe kn.

they run a 3.0-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 24-valve 6-cylinder horizontally opposed SUBARU BOXER engine with Active Valve Control System (AVCS) and Active Valve Lift System (AVLS), and produce 245hp at 6600rpm.

cheers
Alex

I like it. looks modern but sharp, would be a real nice car. But the price tag im sure would be rather large. I'l rather two forrester XT's, one for road one modded for offroad. And each row of seats looks more like 2,2,2 rather than 2,3,2. ie a 6 seater than 7, also that rear row looks to have no leg room at all, would be a real cramp. So would suit a family of 5 max rather than the 7 thats its marketed for.

But over all its sweet. Dash area looks v similar to the Honda Oddessy (spelling??)

my two and a half cents.

Smokey.

that thing has been on sale in the US for a while now, before the Impreza update, now i understand where the nose job came from. As everyone makes SUV/ "soft roaders" nowdays, Suby has found they have been left behind, after pioneering the concept for decades, and didn't have anything big enough to compete with. based on a Lib floorpan. Pity after all these years they have been forced to go "me too, me too" For an SUV, I'd still take a Territory, but a Forester is as close as I'd go for now

Ugly. I don't like it at all. Dump the Tribeca and bring in an Outback ute.

I agree the baja is the one of the ugliest cars on the market, the Tribeca is up there also. Subaru has a habit of making some fugly cars despite it's ability to make works of art like the recent libertys

No, not a BAJA ute an Outback ute. I don't like the Baja at all either.

FN ugly! I gave my 2 bits worth before about this on the previous board, so this is not new.
Mr Fuji, if you are listening, loose that horrible front end design you have adopted from an Alfa abortion design, otherwise it WILL hurt sales just like the bugeye WRX.......there, another 2 cents worth.

But really, if the Tribeca is going to float its sales pitch in an over inflated people mover market, it couldnt have come at a worst time. The fuel economy wouldnt be good (high body 6 cyl AWD), and I reckon it will be a short lived model in this country, 3-4 years tops. That 4 cents worth.

As previously mentioned, the Tribeca has been on the market in other countries for a little while now, so it got the "corporate face".

However, recent news from Subaru confirms that the "corporate face" has not been the success it had hoped for, and will not be seen on any new models. This is good news, as far as I am concerned.

Lets hope they don't replace it with another ugly mug!

Cheers,
