Some bastard got into my subie the other night and stole all my photography gear. It was in a neat little 1950/1960's picnic case that was sitting on the back seat, i stupidly left my camera in the car too... It all walked.
I must have left the rear right door unlocked, even though i'm positive that the car was completely locked up.
In the case was all my negatives from the great WA bike ride from earlier this year (i was the guy with "scottis" written across my back), Anzac day at Mt Macedon VIC and a few random negs of different things in a red folder, along with 120 bucks worth of photo paper, unused, and some cleaning gear. This was to be used for this semseter's photography elective and it's left me spittin' chips.
My camera wasn't anything fancy, Cash Converters don't even deal with those camera's anymore, it was an old Canon AE1 35mm with a 50mm lense. Nice and heavy, made of metal, not of plastic... I dropped it from my bike on the GWABR at 30kmph and it still worked a treat...

They didn't even check the ash tray or glovebox for money, just took everything on the back seat except my hat... even the stereo was still in the car, face and all...

Hope i get the red folder back at least, if i could also get the camera back even better...

Now i double check my locks, i must look like an idiot but that event has really kicked me in the guts.

Mate, that sure shits ya when they just take it all. I lost a great Pentax and zoom lens years back, and never got to replace it until I got my digital.

BTW, the Great WA Bike Ride, did you do the whole ride? Did you see a lifted silver MY going the opposite way on the weekend coming back to Perth via a back road out of Pinjarra? That was me

I know your pain buddy - as some of the lads here will testify I recently lost a Fujifilm digital camera whilst 4WDing in my Subaru. My carelessness is the reason for its walking. Whether it was stolen or fell off the front of the car I do not know. I am grateful I had emptied the camera that morning of all my pictures. Nothing would p*ss me off more than my personal pictures of family and friends being in someone elses possesion.

The camera cost just over $500 to replace - An expensive lesson to learn.

I have had my cars broken into in the driveway before and i know all locks where working, they wrecked the DS lock getting in and took all the change in the car as well as some other stuff.

Today i'm getting an article put in the local paper with the "uni news" crew... They basically write articles about uni life etc and publish them on wednesdays in the Bendigo Advertiser, its a partnership between the local paper and the university...

Hopefully someone will have something to bring forward, even if its just my negatives which are so valuable to me.

And subanator, i was looking out for a BYB or ausubaru sticker in WA... I saw sooo many subies that i can't remember yours in particular if i did see it! It was great to be over there, my first visit, the best way to do it i reckon.

Anyways, gotta dash, got some library lecture thing to go to now (like we don't already know how to use a library...)

sorry to hear that ur car got broken into thats pretty crap... i know how it feels.
i had my first MY and within a week stolen and burnt out... anyway hope the camera turns up mate..

My old subie is one of maybe 2 in the whole state of WA that actually has the BYB sicker on it (AFAIK). The other subies around here have the custom WA rear window sticker. Next time you're over here, drop a post in the WA section.

Some good news. On friday the police raided a house and found my camera, they then went back after calling me and found my negatives YAY!!!

Apparently some already known guy was trying car and house doors in my area and got lucky with my car. I prob won't see the case and photopaper again, or the Enjo stuff i was meant to deliver for mum...

But i do have the camera and the negs, the two important things. The bastard scratched off the serial number on the camera... i mean, if your going to buy something and the serial number is missing wouldn't you be asking questions???

Anyway, very relieved, still double checking my door and boot locks...
