Ok well as you all know back in march i purchased an L-series Turbo Wagon from a bloke in sydney wo said every thing was in good order, well that wasnt so auto is buggered so the 5spd that came with the car which he also said was fine (syncros gone in 3rd ) went in along with the rust that he said was never there. the fact that the rear quarters have been metal filled and are now fully repaired along with opther places. We however are still not finished with removing alll the rust.

The car Finally rolled out of the shed on saturday jumped in and took off getting use to the new clutch and going east on a car that haddnt been ran in months.
ok severe vibration in the tailshft,
solution: remove it. the rear section any way.

in the first 2 days i traveled over 300km in it and dragged the gf around, she only likes the car because it is more comfortable than my pannel van and the stereo in the subee cant hurt her ears or internal organs.

Drove it to work on tursday and relucatntly gave the keys to my mum that night as her car is off the road getting the maintenence it shoud have got when the subaru found its way in to the shed. (now she doesnt want to give the keys back)

this morning i got in the pannel van and was bored and nearly cried, not even my stereo could make me smile. it is not much fun to drive but i must admit is easyer to drive in the traffic due to being an auto.

So at the end of this excited rant because i cant wait for the weekend so i can have my subaru back i wanted to know from you guys weather we all love our cars and look forward to driving them as much as i do,

as my dad said earlyer they have a heart they make noise they have their quirks, my car has a heart and it speaks to me, it likes to come on to boost and take off and just loves to cruise around doing what it does.

Obssessed i sure am... now for the rest of my fix on the forum

Cheers Justin

Mate I ride a motorcycle all week and it hate it even more when it cold wet and raining, like it is atm – for those of you that don’t know Perth floods quick (well it has REALLY bad drainage). The boss get the Subaru all week so I will go ANY little job that requires me to drive just to get in her and spool it up

I love my suubie aswell far too much. the girlfriend is fed up with the pipe dream of getting the ej20t - wrx conversion. she told me the other night we dont like we used to because i am absesed about the convertion that is about 2 years off. i love it when that poor old ea82t goes onto boost and them front wheels just spin up in 2nd and 3rd and just resently i had i head gasket go and all up it cost me $1800 this was including all hoses replaced so i might get the 2 years out of it. the poor old rx gearbox is whiney when i put my foot down. the interior is like brand spanking new and when the turbo light comes on over 3,000 rpm i just love it. i have been told to get what i want done to it is going to cost me about 10,000 and that is just so far off. i even when the head gasket went i even (god forbid) trading it in on a bloody purple festiva. i know all you guys are just going to laugh on that last comment and even the girlfriend gives me shit. that throughty sound the suubie make just is a tough sound and any other car e.g Skyline, Supra, just cannot come close to the excitement i feel when i get inside it.

When i get my convertion i want an low 11 sec car and hope it will be reliabe as hell. i just need someone to show this young buck how to work on his car and getting it going the way he wants too.

get the manual out and read and read what we have to say on here, research, and take it all in...also i am not sure how old you are but im only 20 and have done all the spanner time on my car, and iknow that a lot of the guys here really arent that much older. the best thing to do is get out there and have a go and begain to understand how your car works and work on it to get it right withinyour own time.

i some how dont think you will get an 11sec quarter out of the ea82t, but that is where the ej20t come in.

I love the sound and how you can cruise around in 5th gear at 60kmh and it is happy jus tnot reving then knock it back a couple cogs and your one your way..

the shock factor of when you take off and the car next to you floors it, and you are still some what next to it is the best thing.

reading that gave me goosebumps!

sometimes i just feel like going for a drive, so i hop in, and away we go! I really do love my car, and never want to get rid of it!...the thrill of cruising past a cruiser or hilux on the beach is undescribable!

i love it when she turns heads... or when you get the thumbs up from wrx drivers!

when i see people driving their rusty, dented wrecked L-series, i just think, that car can have a better home, they dont appreciate such a great car..

yep i love suby's and i especially love mine!

leebag, you're not going to get an 11 second quarter out of an RX in any way shape or form and maintain any trace of reliablility. I think you need to stop watching the Fast and the Furious and get a hold of a spanner :P. 14's are quick. 13's are very quick. 12's are ridiculous and anything quicker is really impractical.

In keeping with the topic though, I do have to admit I have a lot of love for my Subarus. Even the ones I don't own. I don't think I've ever jumped into a Subaru for the first time without smiling from ear to ear. I loved my wagon when I first got it, my coupe, my sedan, my Mum's Forester, my sister's Liberty, my brother's L series... the list goes on!
Even better is the first drive back on the road after a lengthy conversion! I literally could not sleep after the first time I drove my coupe, feeling the boost whack me in the back for the first time... it was all worth it.

Back in the days when it was just me, my wagon and hopefully $20 for fuel I used to wish I had something different. I actually wanted a VL Commodore at one point, and taking out a loan for an S13 Silvia was also a consideration. I look back on this and laugh... would I have had as much fun with them as I've had with the Subarus? Hell no. I have the board and the trusty (albeit inaccurate) Gregorys manual with its little black and white picture of a Leone coupe to thank. One of these days I will stray and buy something non Subaru. This will be firstly to experience something different (I'm thinking JZA80 Supra atm) and secondly to remind myself why Subarus are the best cars around.

That said I can't wait to get my wagon on the road with the EJ! Should be incredibly fun considering all the new bits going into it!

I can relate to this, as only less than a month ago I finally sorted out my EA82T problems, and boy it was really worth the wait. I had all but given up in disgust that I had taken on buying a car that need a bloody lot of sorting. (still a few more jobs to go.....)

But the persistance paid off, and also paying for a little expert help to get there in the end saw it turn out the performance it was designed for. I was surprised how much fun a Turbo car is to drive, sure its no WRX, but all the same, it does a good job in the mid range punch, and the power to weight ratio it good to get it to spool up easy.
I cant wait to get my turn to take the guys to work in it in the car pool I am in, they are now surprised how punchy it is. At the moment it has no heater or working radio, so hearing the turbo spool up is music enough to my ears :D

The other thing is now I have experienced is EFI faultfinding, so this exercise was worth the pain of understanding, making it easier to identify any another problems with greater knowledge now.
