I have the production figures for subaru in those years.
1977
286645 units

1978
305449 units

1979
334290 units with nearly 25000 now in Australia

there were 11462 subies sold in australia in 1982

Does that help?

Thanks for that aspro it does help, you wouldnt have sales stats on a particular model as in dl 1600 sedan, wagon, coupe. Also how do i find out how many registered dl 1600's in australia left. Can i speak to the RTA, will they give me that sort of info out to me? thanks

I'd reckon you could speak to the RTA and they may know, however depending on who it is you talk to they may just not want to tell you.

Hmm... quoting the book "Subaru the innovator downunder" 5014 subarus were sold in 1976.
And in 1978 twice as many Subarus were sold compared to VW
Thats the most precise information I have

The 50000th Australian subaru was sold in 1982
Certainly worth talking to the rta
cheers

Thats good aspro, better than nothing. Got a guy from Subaru australia looking into it, and going to call me when he does find out.Seemed pretty interested which was great. Also rang the rta and they reffered me to their website and found how many registered cars, buses, trucks and all that but not a specific model and make.I call them back and said to keep searching and going in deeper in the links but couldnt get to far. I told her they were PDF files and couldnt get into anything and she kinda just said ok just try it . Wasnt much help. If all that makes sense lol
