Hey guys,
Seeing as everyone seems to be using this instead of the Marketplace, I thought I'd try here!
Just seeing if anyone has a 32/36 Weber suitable for the good old conversion on my EA81.
Otherwise, if you have a set of dual carbs let me know!
Either way, I want something to give a bit more grunt! I'm in Melbourne and willing to pay for freight if needed. Can't find any wreckers down here with them!
Cheers,
Tim

you saying you can't find any 2.0L cortinas / escorts with them in?
wow. down at my local pick'n'pull, there are a couple still in situ, would most likely need a kit thrown at them...

I've been to 2 different Pick-a-parts and every Cortina and Escort has been de-carb-ified!
I was shocked too! The only place that I could find that has one was a Ford over-the-counter wrecker and he wanted $75 for one that was in pitiful condition.
I've heard that the wreckers sell them for about $25ish.
Wanna grab one for me from your wrecker?

What do you reckon about an 'unknown condition' 32/36 DGV for $50? - not DGAV.

best to sight it first. check for any major shaft play. if its nice and tight, may be worthwhile to pick it up. then it'd probably need a reco kit.
how much would it cost for a new one these days? Ive only had bad experiences with reco carbys with all my cars... perhaps the people i see are dodgy.
I'll be nose diving into this conversion soon. Would prefer to have one with an automatic choke... whats the deal with this? Anyone successful with this?

Yeh, I'm thinking auto choke would be cooler too! Maybe I'm better off waiting for one.
Hehe we should organise a group buy of adapters from Redline or something!
I just want more grunt... Is it too much to ask!!!!!

I run no choke at all on my 32/36 - even removed the choke plates altogether from the top of the carby.
I paid $40 for my "unknown condition" carby from an Escort and put a kit through it. As smoov said - check for wear. Id avoid the carby altogether if it has wear.
I also agree with Smoov about checking new carby prices - you know your getting a decent carby. Lets be honest - Some of the carbies coming off 2l cortinas are now 30ish years old.
I have heard that the 32/36 DGV 5A (stamped on the side of the base) is the carby to get - you wont find this on Escort or Cortina though.
