2inch lift and Cv joints. Need help ☺

Hi guys just need sum advice from more
Of you experienced subaru owners..

Iv brought a 2 inch strut and brackets lift
In witch I new would put stress on the Cv joints
But did not think it would effect them so soon.
Iv had the lift in for about a month now and my
CV joints are clicking like mad 😡

And iv all redy torn thru 2 boots.
Was wanting to no if I was to replace the Cv
Drive shafts with genuine Cv shafts and not the
Cheap EBay ones that iv got that are only around
6 months old. Would that solve my problem.

I no that thay still would not last as long as thay
Would normally. But would like to think I would
Get more than a month out of them.

Or would I be wasting my money and just have
The same problem. Has any one else had this
Problem with there lift.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What vehicle are we talking about?

Are you running larger tyres? These will kill cheap cv joints quicker too.

If you have only put in a 2 inch strut and brackets lift, you need to put blocks under the body as well. You have too much angle on your CVs, which is causing the joints and boots to wear out. 1 inch blocks on the body will stop a lot of the problem.

Could I insted cut 2 coils out of my old springs.
And that would drop the angle on the CVs.
Worse that could happen is it doesn't work and
I chuck the kings back in.

No point as you may as well take the lift kit out.

195/65/14 isn't that big, are you sure it is a 2 inch kit?

Some photos of how the CVs look in relation to the kit would be good.

I have a 2 inch strut lift in my vortex, and that runs the same floor pan as the L series I'm running 215/65/14s and I've not had a problem yet (touch wood)

I guess you did a whole body lift and not just a strut lift, or you would have a large amount of camber on the front. With a proper body lift, there shouldn't be any more stress on the CVs than normal.

I have found reconditioned and cheap driveshafts only last a few months. I recommend Autoforce shafts which you can get at Sprint's, they are OEM spec and will last a while as long as the boots are not too near a hot exhaust.

Well iv cut a coil off the old springs and installed them. It's a little lower but not as low as it was with out the strut spacers. So insted of 2 inch I'm geting around 1inch of lift In the front. Witch I'm hoping will help the Cv angles. I all so found that I had the strut spacers facing the rong way
Witch may of been a problem to. My bad.

I'm trying to find sum good Cv joints But can't find any thing. Just eBay junk. Im in Victoria so maby sum one knows of a Cv specialist around Melbourn.

I will try and look up sprints to see if I can get Cv joints thru them. I'm relly hoping it is just a combination of crap eebay CVs and me not installing the strut tops properly. As I relly don't wana go back to stock hight.
I will take sum pics to morrow of the angles of the CVs and try to post them on here. Thanks guys.

Toonga - your vortex is AWD so it's not quite the same stress on the front shafts as the work is shared over all four.

Cutting spring will only lead to disaster... Just don't do it!

Hi guys so I thought I would leet you no were I'm at.
I decided to take the front spacers out. While doing that
I didn't realise that I'd poped the Cv out must of
Pushed to far down on sumthing. Any way long story
Short the Cv joint exploded and the ball bearings went every were.239 dollars later and the new Cv is in. Lesson learnt I might leave the mods to the mechanics next time.

Was wandering tho iv keeped the 2 inch brackets
I'n the rear. Thought why not plus will help when it's loaded with camping gear and traler and motobike.
Will this have any bad effects on the rear Cv shafts and if so will it be any were nere as bad as the stress that was on the front CVs.
