Radiator reccomendations

Post by RubysueEA82 » Tue Apr 05, 2016 10:12 am

G'day blokes,

I've tried the cheap eBay ally radiator & found the mounts don't line up. Doesn't do what it says on the tin so I'm sending it back on general principal.

Who's got any idea on what I should get? Full copper/brass unit? Locally made alloy one? I'm in Adelaide so adrad might be helpful.

Does anyone else find it amusing that a new heater core is $385 & a complete alloy radiator can be had for $200 less!

Cheers

The heater cores are not "mass" produced as such so they cost more to make but yes 385 dollars is rich.

I do know when you type in universal heater core you get hits like this

Jules grab your specks ;)

A radiator is needed, not a heater core. But that said I've paid more for an all brass copper heater core than I had on a radiator until last summer...

As for radiator go with what you need. For an ea82 an all alloy probably isn't needed. If going bush a brass/copper unit would be good in the event it needs repair beyond the black stump - if you carry a soldering kit.

Dual core could be a good idea if you run in hot temps all the time.

While you're at it a new water pump and genuine thermostat to make sure the major cooling parts are in new condition with the radiator.

Cheers

So many spelling mistakes on the forum I'm glad I'm not a moderator otherwise the literacy teacher within would probably end up OCD about it!
