I know a hoarder that has a a pair of MY wagons with PS complete, one is a low miler, both not leaking while standing, said to be both working fine last time driven. What seems to be the going rate for a rack, pump, bracket, bolts, fluid lines, thermostat housing. Needs to be enough to encourage him to rip it all out and disable his beasts prior to metal scrapping.....

Easy $450 to $500 for a complete setup by private sale.
Have heard of $600+ by wreckers too.

Edit after reading dfoyl's post ^^^ $600+ by wreckers who are in the know

I paid 100 dollars for a rack with no boots recon racks with no tie rod ends will set you back 300 dollars plus.
it is worth the effort to pull it out of the car and put on gumtree or ebay or both.

Seems they are about the same as the other worthwhile upgrades to these old cars: complete set around $500.
Same as complete A/C conversion kit, rear disc brake setup, Weber conversion

If they're going to scrap why don't you offer him chas his way for a day stripping parts off them that won't effect the overall scrap value of the vehicle?
Then you could on sell to other members at a reduced price and still turn a decent profit.
Also don't forget the crank pulley and rack mounts in the complete kit. Also if they've got the long dashboard/"crash pad" it might be worth grabbing one of those, especially if there's a 6 gauge cluster with it
Cheers

I just looked outside and I can see some very large birds circling around in the sky

Good call Benny on the dash....
Do either have A/C as well? There's another $400-$500 for a complete system.
Or if bits left thereof, I need the under dash evaporator with housing, + A/C on/off switch.
Also need a 2 wire, fuel tank gauge sender. Will have one if it is a 6 gauge cluster or the digi dash (if not needed to be on-sold with a working dash of course).
Do either have power windows as well?
Aaahhhh I can taste the sweetness of the coolant in my mouth already

trying to encourage the dude to strip n sell by bits, but he is a hoarder, not a motor dealer, unless you twist his arm - got an RS Liberty out of him for Legacy Possum in the UK.
Nice dash with cracks, the cluster would definitely wind a few hundred thousand off one of my Brums
Got the deal going, I need to pay him what he mistakenly paid for a bucket of rust 13 years ago and he'll deliver - seems redickerless when I compare it to the RS, but there is special gold in these old MY's.
The one this deal has the AC with two switches ?? so think original has been fried.
And thirteen year old fuel muck dissolved from the tank by new fuel has just scored a stuck valve and thunk..bent push rod so think kit will be sold with a drilled head.
Heard it run and no whirry bad noises from pump
Reckon next start will do the other rear pots valve and push rod
