Lift kit gear box linkages

Post by Gazza01 » Sat Jun 06, 2015 8:24 am

Can anyone tell me out there if there are any special parts that are required to be added to the Brumby Gear box linkages. Just find that mine is pretty hard to get into reverse now that its been lifted 2 inches and not all that easy in other gears. Only has happened since I lifted it.

You will find the problem is being caused by the linkages rubbing on the gearbox tunnel and the rubber boot, which goes around the hole the linkages go through.

Mine is fine in all the gears but reverse, and I sorted that out pretty easy.

I put as many washers as I could to move the 4WD linkage under the floor as far right as possible with the nut still going on, and then I spun the shift lever around 180 degrees from the top.
Just grab the knob and spin it, make sure the shaft is turning and not just the knob. You might need vice grips.
The lever is not straight, it is actually bent, so turning it could move it to a position where it isn't fouling as much on the edges of the hole or the 4WD linkage.

An easy way to sort it is to lay under the car looking at the gear lever and have someone select all the gears, and do the same with low range selected. If it is hard to select reverse in 2WD, you won't be able to do it in low range. You will easily be able to see what it is fouling on. But wear eye protection while you do this.
