Has anyone out there had any experience with overhauling there own CV shafts. I know its probably more sensible to go buy at new CV Shaft for $95. But as a matter of interest can u buy CV repair kits for Brumby CV Shafts. The rear shafts for a Brumby are like hens teeth and I was thinking of repairing a couple of old ones I have here, not that rear shafts give much trouble.

My best, longest lasting pair of CV shafts were a pair I made up out of six or seven hafts all pulled apart on cardboard from fridge boxes to keep mess under control. Paper towel is the trick to clean up according to tambox. Just visually inspected the balls and bits and just put 'em all back together, new boots, borrowed band tool. Reckon they have done about 150,000km before it went off to pasture with a slight knock, knackered boots - that is all on pre loved bits ! Current daily is on repco shafts with 50,000km in last seven years and to date - very pleased. 95 bucks is getting awful cheap ?!

Perhaps he means pictures and words?
This is for a front shaft, but the procedure is the same for the rear shaft once you have it out.
good luck with it.
As well ... Perhaps you could start one thread to do with your car and ask all your questions in that one
