Hi Ive had a long time intention of owning a Brumby and finally at 70 years of age have succeeded. Being an old mechanic I like to do a lot of my own repairs. I would like to know if anyone has had the same problem that I have at the moment. My R/H front drive shaft runs very close to the steering shaft, so much so that one day the rubber boot disintegrated. When I put a new boot on I adjusted the steering shaft which has now given me approx clearance 5mm (I would still like more). I also would like to buy an interior mirror and I have seen some Brumbys around with a rear bumper with a step instead of just the corner bumperettes and am wondering if anyone has one for sale. Phil

Rear view mirrors are common across all MY's, so your local wrecker can probably help you with one. I should have a spare kicking around if you can't find one locally.

The rear bar vs bumperettes - three options for rear bar :
1. AGQuip Subaru option version (very rare - these are probably what you've seen)
2. USDM full rear bar (I only know of 1 in Australia, and I imported it myself for my Brumby)
3. Custom made (either from scratch, or by modifying a wagon rear bar)

The CV boot rubbing on the steering shaft problem is because it is not the correct boot. The factory boots have a smaller rib in that area to clear the steering shaft, most if not all after market drive shafts and boots don't have this so they rub. You can still get the correct boot from somewhere, maybe try Subaru genuine parts or our resident parts guy FROG here on the forum.
