Nice!! You made me go looking through my old 'zene collection.
Found I've got a 2 page article on the GFT hardtop in a Dec '75 Wheels mag!!
Will scan and post it later :-)

Gee ,reading this I think I will have to encourage no.1 son to restore the identical car to this he has sitting in his garage gathering dust, only difference being it has the import constant AWD box, RS Liberty Turbo , big Intercooler and Microtech ECU. Great fun to drive with 105kw at the wheels on moderate boost. Majordad

Thank you for sharing those great Photos of the Article!

Beside
"Poor Man's Quattro" the Rally EA82 also was called

"Quasi-Quattro" which means Almost Quattro.

Let me Share here some photos from another magazine:

Damn that was expensive, more than double the average car price for 1986, I only paid about $7,200 for a brand new RS2000 in 79.

79 to 86 is where prices really ramped up though ?

An 87 MM quotes buy figure for a base model VL Turbodore at $17,100 - the Vortex with the lot less AC , about 34,400. Mid 86 the RX was 22 - 24 K
