little bits that go missing over time ....

never realised brake bleed nipples actually came with rubber caps until I got a minimal owner Brumby a few years back. Now, my new Brumby has all four bleed nipple rubber caps, the grey plastic trim down side of drivers seat as part of the sill plate - covers a useless hole and...blow me down, the clock adjust shaft has a tiny as conical shaped rubber end cap on it (well it did until I removed the clock :) ). I also scored the tarp, tarp centre support brace still in a stitched vinyl sheath.

The amount of dust this baby has gathered from the inside rear guard cavity, drifting through a wire hole near seat belt and down along under the door sill plate - definitely not factory !

Yes, the brake bleed covers aren't seen a great deal any more.
I used to collect them as I cruised around wreckers looking for stuff (back when wreckers allowed you to cruise around).
I used to collect these and a variety of bolts and screws common to cars, ie, like the screws that hold the plastic scuff plates on with each door. These sometimes fall out too. They aren't a normal screw either as they have a small section near the head that has no thread.

Anyone ever seen the plastic/rubber dust caps that go over the rear drum adjusters? That little square peg that you tighten up to wind your brake shoes out...I'd never seen the cap until I bought this ute ;)

What else goes missing...well the push buttons for the fresh/circ in the cab are made of particularly brittle plastic (even looks a little like bakelite!) the locating hole usually shatters and the knob falls out. I found one under the floor vinyl once. Scored a couple of brand new factory items recently, squirrelled away for the wagon ;) And for the ute owners who still has the plate/s that cover the lock mechanism in the center of their tailgate? Previous owner of mine must have unbolted it to tug on the lock pushrods to open the tailgate instead of fixing the latch handle mech. Now the plate is lost forever, lets all manner of dirt, leaves and crud in there when I try to sweep out the tray. Also found a complete kiwi fruit skin in there once.

And yes the rear guard cavities fill up with bulldust, which when wet turns to clay. I recently dug about a 9L bucket full of wet muddy clay out of my guards not long ago, must be doing wonders for the rust situation in there :(

Got me thinkin' there a minute - long time since I adjusted me drums - then I remembered - discs :)

Found a rusty towel and scissor jack, fan belts, funnels, rope and a lot of dust in mine when I went chasing electrical gremlins down in those cavities :)

My rear drums still have the rubber covers on them which was a bit of a surprise. Another thing that I'm surprised still exists are the small rubber flaps under the car, supposedly to deflect debris away from certain areas. Particularly surprised the front ones are still there as I think they come off to adjust wheel alignment.
I also found a small inspection mirror inside the tailgate and acres of dust inside the rear guard cavities.

I found a dollar in my Brumby - it was preventing the seat back from adjusting. The only time I've ever made money fixing something on it!
