Found this on trademe. I'm sure a few members here would wet their pants (Silverbullet, RSR555 to name two!) over this.

Advert while it's still up

Correct link here : http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/special ... 950113.htm

Careful reading shows it's not a genuine rally car, only the engine / running gear is ( has been transplanted ) So is the engine alone worth the dosh ?

Cheers, Bantum ...

Thanks for the link Bantum - I somehow forgot to actually drop the link in with the code for it :/ I'm not doing so well with that at the moment... Distractions :???:

Yeah I'm not sure I'd be keen to shell out that amount of money for the vehicle, personally I reckon he's really dreaming! $20k could get you a very very sweet WRX that has the pedigree of this with the braking and ball-tearing good fun that this little ticker could only dream of...

Holy balls, it really is a Possum Bourne engine  Where is it exactly, Kiwi land? Twin Webers, LSD, rally running gear, 2 door coupe...nothing more desirable for me anyway. If I had $20k I'd fly over to wherever it is and buy it tomorrow.

Seriously rare stuff, maybe one day when I have the money it will come up for sale again somewhere

Maybe I can trade a kidney? Although I think for that sort of premium it would have to be original matching numbers, not a transplant.

Hahahahahahahahaha.. Not a chance !!

Basically this is a standard 1983 JDM 2 door hardtop with some rally stuff thrown in. Would only pay this sort of $$ if it was Possum's original car, not the parts off the sister car :(

I'm sure this is the same car...

This is the same car that was listed on TradeMe 2 years ago for $5000. Same seller, distinctive name. Same pics as 2 years ago too... He's dreaming for $20,000. Even $5000 was high at the time, although now it's probably worth that.

I'd say he's probably trying to sell it to a Japanese collector or something. Nobody in NZ is going to pay $20k for that. If I was up there I'd go have a look.

Maybe it's supposed to be $2,000 as that would seem to be a more reasonable price

That'd be cool but really I think the cost involved would kill it before it begins - unless you get it made in china and they get it right with a good quality product that actually fits...

That thought did cross my mind!

$2G would probably be worth it as a bit of a replica project, same as dressing up a bog stock 2 door Torana as a gtr or a gtr xu1 depending on the model it was/is.

It makes that 4 door MY rally car that was on ebay for $5000 sound like a good deal.
