Subaru outback 2005 3 ltr mileage

Post by Mitch70 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 10:09 pm

Can anyone tell me how many Kms they get out of a full tank with a 3 ltr automatic around town and country driving.?
How much difference is there between a 2.5 lt and 3 ltr
Thanks

2.5L 5spd manual I got around 9.5-10.5L per hundred driving average with about half and half freeway to suburbs in Perth. Auto will possibly use a touch more.

There are threads on subaruoutback and liberty forums about 3ltr fuel and they seem to range from 12-14 around town in stock form. They respond very well to tunes apparently, dramatically reducing fuel consumption especially in stop go traffic (stock tune handles closed loop poorly) and increasing performance.

The difference in performance would be quite significant between 2.5 and 3.0. Also the 3.0 uses a timing chain so no timing change every 100,000.

Coming from having a 2.0l Forester and it now having a 2.5. Ill say go for the 3.0l
What year are you looking at?
The 2.5 goes fairly well for a 4 cylinder, its a torquey little motor beut is no comparison to a 6 cylinder engine.
Both are good solid engines if serviced well.

Been told by at least one 3.0 Lib owner of 7.5 on highway runs, 8.0 on the return!
