Help with brake pad change
Hi guys, want to change the front pads on my Vortex and I was reading my service manual and it says I need two special tools to push the piston back in the calliper. Every other car I've had I've just take the calliper off and used a vice but it says DON'T do that as it could stuff the thread. Where can I get these special tools (926430000) and (92440000). Thanks
Canny

Don't unless you want to spend half a day putting the cables back on.Vortex75 wrote:Thanks guys, it's says to take the handbrake cable off but doesn't really show how. Does it just come of with a pair of pliers?

There is no need to remove the hand brake cables just make sure it isn't on when you do the brakes. As well make sure the car is well supported and on flat ground when you do this job.

I've used the round noses of a pair of multigrips adjusted to the required width. Worked fine.
Though I've had the rubber want to not turn with the piston, twisting it and threatening to rip. Quarter turn then a small one eighth in the wrong/back direction each turn seemed to keep it straight.
