Looking good, I love the white cluster

Are you going to colour code the bonnet?

Agreed, the STi spoiler is a bit much. Subtle can sometimes say more than "in your face", esp as I notice the "L"s. I reckon the less attention from the boys in blue the better, also less likely to be broken into...

Nah the plans on the bonnet are to carbon fibre wrap the black section,
The person behind the wheel is going to probably draw more attention then the car haha

We have a set and they shouldn't be too far away :) Only got to travel 1/2 way around the world

Don't go giving him ideas but yeah, very good site
Venom wrote:Also have a google for the Tommy Kaira BG5 (M20TB), it's got all carbon door cards, dash, coll cage etc. Very cool.
Little over the top for my liking on the carbon fibre but I love those Morette headlights :)
classic jay wrote:Now that's an idea, I might aswell leave the car white if I'm doing that, but its a good idea, I'm keen on it
You could always put a coloured tint (similar to the outside colour you choice) over the top of the white carbon fibre dip?

Spoiler looks awesome - and different to see it on a Liberty.

Bonnet however looks like sh1t - even carbon wrapped will still look like crap. I just cannot see how anybody would think that a bonnet in a different colour to the rest of the car looks good. Just looks like you had a prang and threw on a bonnet from a different coloured car.

Now if you did a proper 2 tone job and took the black/carbon on to the guards a little
(like an SLR Torana) and maybe did the roof as well - that would look better.

Even the real factory carbon fibre roofs on new cars like the M3 look like sh1t so you're not alone :)

Says the riceboy with the drift spoiler :)

IMO the black or carbon fibre bonnets (and boots) look the boom on cars, gives them that race car look like the A9X from the oldern days.. you know Ken.. when you first got your lic but I guess that's stretching the memory a fair way back :p

I'm kinda in 2 minds about the scoop though.. it looks good to make it stand out but also kinda stands out too much

Yes but they didn't just do the bonnets - the SLR/A9X did the tops of the guards, along the side of the car and into the window frames.

I just cannot see how any sane person can think that one panel painted or carbon'd a different colour from the rest of the car looks good

Not all SLRs had painted bonnets and putting a over the guards doesn't really change it that much. My SS hatch had just the black around the windows (like Jayson's Liberty) and so do many cars, so I guess it's just like putting low profile tyres on an Outback... Just makes it look like you've had a busted rim and found the cheapest set of wheels and slapped them on it :)

Just a personnal thing IMO. I guess if we all thought this way, we'd all still be driving around in all black model T Fords.

Keep up the good work Jays.. Ken is just stirring the pot because he's jelly

After nearly 9yrs I still love mine now even though it looks as rough as guts, actually looks like it's got aids, I've got a set of twin headlights for mine which will never get put on $275 if anyone is interested, Sort of look like this.(9th image from the start)

http://images.search.conduit.com/ImageP ... t=35&pos=5

Mine in the dunes about 6 yrs ago, I think that is a decent way to do a 2 tone bonnet, I was just mucking round with a little grey spray I had because the silver bonnet from the conversion looked crap but didn't have enough to cover the whole thing.

As it looked at it's best, after being written off by hail damage a few yrs ago I've let it go pretty bad but it still goes fairly good and is still my daily driver ;)

Image

New wheels after the hail just as a little gift to her to let her know I still love her :) (Wrong date on pic, it was only a couple of yrs ago)

Hey Tom, I can't see any pics but I would like to buy them lights off you, if they are the ones I'm hoping they are. I've been searching for ages for a set.

EDIT: Tom, if they look like this then consider them sold :)

Oh and your Gen2 is one of the reasons I love the Gen2s.. great car and we're doing similar conversion to Jayson's

Different colour bonnets and scoop FTW. :p

Nah i'll paint it eventually. And I actually have a turbo. :D

Love your lib. Looks great and they go surprisingly well with auto and ej22, way better than an sf auto, I don't get why it's so much better.

Will be sweet with a turbo.

I'm pretty sure that's them Paul because they have the plastic around the indicator like them but consider them yours, not sure if they are genuine or copy but the previous owner put holes for park lights and I haven't touched them since they are maroon in colour, let me know when you are heading up this way and I'll meet you somewhere, I'm in Forrestfield.

I've got that grille too, it's got black mesh but no badge but I'm 99% sure it's up in the shed Mullaloo........$400 the lot. o422317ooo

No worries.. I'll take them and the grille :) I'll send you a PM

I agree it looks crap but it's not from the bonnet, it's the whole combination of 1/2 arse bits all over it... That front bar does't line up right, the side skirts don't continue around the back, the grille looks to have over spray all over it, etc.. but I agree that the black out would have looked better (IMO) if they painted the mirrors black and continued the line under the mirrors down to the front of the car.
niterida wrote:Cool :

Yes I agree and it's because all the bits are flowing into each other and nothing looks bodgey but this is a 2 tone paint work which isn't a black bonnet as such.

It does look cool and mainly because it's paint work follows the natural lines of the car

No it looks crap because its just a black bonnet.

Which is exactly what I was saying and why just a straight black bonnet doesn't look good - thank you for justifying my point. Full Stop. End of Argument ;)

Argument?? no arguing from this end.. just a healthy disagreement of opinions.. not justifing your point.. just admiring all modified cars that don't have 1/2 arse bits bolted to them

At the risk of stirring the pot...my personal opinion is I dont like black bonnets either, but everyone has their own personal likes & dislikes & should feel free to personalise their own car their own way without being judged. So Jay if you like it, do it :D
