Nudge Bar : MY08 Forrester XT

I've got a nudge bar from my Dad off a MY05 Forrie and want to put it on my MY08 Forrie, he reckons its not possible without customising some mounts but none of the literature seems to indicate that anyone ever customises mounts...

Does anyone have any idea on this?
