i have the opportunity to pick up a Gen 1 brumby.

how hard are parts to come by? tailgate looks a bit rough.

i would love to do the Yanks quad light setup but cant seem to find any bits for sale anywhere.

where these available in Japan at all? what where they called over there?
is there parts over UK way?

thanking you for any input.

They're around. But they don't come up often, and when they do their either in pristine condition or they're rough as guts. There's one on gumtree in Echuca for $200 at the moment, only good for parts I think.

They're around, and if you're keen to do it up like the one in that pic above, you'll get there, it might just take a bit of time. They are a very basic car though!

Cheers

There is one in Mildura for $700 I think on Gumtree. He has recently lowered the price on it so I reckon you'd get it pretty cheap and he's driving it around still and the body doesn't look to bad. Would be a good one to grab at the right price.

It is actually in Shepparton not Mildura but there really is not much useable left on the $700 Brumby... It has had a very hard life (as they do) and none of the panels realistically have any life left. There is rust everywhere (particularly in the cowl area where these models have issues) and where it is not rusted it is bashed and dented.

On a positive note the engine and gearbox seem fine (it is the dual range with the unique shifters) and some of the interior is OK.

IMHO that particular Brumby is only a $250 - $300 purchase tops... :( And I looked at it when it was listed at $1000

According to http://www.mvbrumbybrat.co.uk information there are just 6 MK1 trucks remaining in the UK. Parts are probably rarer here than in Oz.
America still has the numbers and there are parts over there too NOS as well as used. I spoke with a guy in the US who maintains he could build 30 Mk1's from the parts he has !! and given the MK2 stuff he sold me - I kinda believe him too !!!
In the UK there are 2 immaculate Mk1's and 3 others in restro as we speak. Sadly the remaining one is a complete basket case and may not be a viable restoration.:(
